BROOCH (sheep's wool, shotgun cartridge case, wood, rusty wire, 18ct gold, iron wire, stainless steel)
On the Alchemy of Before, Between and Beyond.
Sheep, shotgun cartridges and fence wire are a staple of the Norfolk countryside. And so are the famous golden treasures of Iron Age Queen Boudica's Iceni.
But we are often the perpetrators and victims of casual observation. A find is not just a find, but a frozen moment in time, the snapshot of an experience, braiding together body, landscape and the acts of walking and foraging. It is when we take the time to awaken our consciousness to this moment that we begin asking: what is the cycle of life and death, of disappearance and reappearance, of extraction and refinement and then of deposition and discovery of these objects? And what is ours?
